Early December 2008

Recently I wondered about color. As I noticed again the change, the browns and grays underfoot and how virtually all returns to the earth-color as it softens and decays. Where does the color go? I mean the saturated reds, greens and yellows. Why are those colors reserved as our witness to the living?

Image 381.11 shows a grapevine ascending a fully grown tree. As the little tendrils secure themselves to small stems and twigs, the main growth of the vine follows the larger support.
